PCH 340 Research Methods Annotated Bibliography

Select your research area and identify a research question that guides your literature search. You are going to identify 10 articles that give you relevant information about your topic and answers to your research question. Select the best six articles for this assignment. For the assignment, you will select two out of the 10 peer reviewed research articles that were published in professional journals. These articles focus on new research and are not review articles. You will annotate these two articles. Further, you will select another four articles and write a one paragraph statement telling me how this article helps you answer your research question. Below you will find an explanation of what an annotated bibliography is.We would expect you to write at least one to two pages for each entry. What is an annotated bibliography? ?An annotated bibliography describes the sources (article, chapter, book…) in more detail than a simple reference list. ? An annotated bibliography provides specific information about each source you have used. What does an annotated bibliography do? ? It encourages the writer (you!!) to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within a field of study, and their relation to your own research and ideas ? Provides you have read and understood your sources ? Provides a way for others to decide whether a source will be helpful to their research if they read it ? Could help interested researchers determine whether they are interested in a topic by providing background information and an idea of the kind of work going on in the field What elements could an annotated bibliography include? Bibliography according to the appropriate citation style (in your case APA style) ? You will provide an explanation of the main points and/or purpose of the work without simply copying the abstract. The annotated bibliography is written by you! ? What about the credentials of the author? Is he/she qualified to write this piece? ? Comment on the worth, effectiveness, and usefulness of the work in terms of both the topic being research and your own topic ? Does the author have any biases? Is there a particular viewpoint that seems to be stressed? Style of the annotated bibliography ? Double space your annotated bibliography and use 1 inch margins, Times New Roman, Size 12 ? Adopt the APA style for writing an annotated bibliography. ? Annotated bibliographies in APA format do not require a special title. Use the usual “References” designation ? APA uses hanging indent. The first line is set flush with the left margin, and all other lines are indented four spaces ? After the bibliography citation, drop down to the next line and begin the annotation. Type of annotated bibliography ? You will use the combined type: summary annotation and critical/evaluative annotation ?
