Question: Objective: Apply specific concepts and theories of developmental psychology in your practice. Description One key aspect of this course is demonstrating your ability to apply key concepts of Developmental Psychology. In this assignment you will choose a specific topic, and create an educational material that you could potentially use with clients/peers. Topics You need to choose ONE specific topic from developmental psychology that directly relates to your professional practice, think of big-ticket health related issues in each of the developmental stages discussed in the book and learning materials. Some examples – Teratogens during pregnancy, accident prevention during infancy, suicide prevention for teens, sex health, end of life care etc. etc. If you are not sure of a topic, you can always use the discussion board for help from your peers (and instructor)! Create a 10-15 minute video where YOU are teaching/explaining the content you want to convey. You may use other visuals (a ppt for example), but this video is about YOU teaching the content. (make sure to check where/when you record, dress accordingly! And also, look at the camera, be interactive, etc…) Reflection The last component of your assignment, regardless of topic / format chosen (so…. ALL need to do this). In this 1-2 page, you will “sell” your project, you are explaining to your supervisor (up to 2 points): What is the intended audience and why? Why this topic is important/relevant (and… why you chose it!)? Why/how your project (video, pamphlet or ppt) address the issue at hand? How it is appropriately tailored for the intended audience? Anything else you can think of to get the “funds” you need for your project
