RTW synthesis

Write an RTW synthesis paragraph. The purpose of synthesis is to explore connections among multiple sources of information. Begin by reviewing information from Idziak Chapter 1 about principlism and ethical relativism. Connect these ideas to information from Idziak Chapter 15 about cultural diversity and cultural biases. Think about the culture of the modern American health care system. Reflect on the major racial and ethnic groups that are present in our local community. Next, consider your own cultural background and how your extended family approaches health and wellness. Where do you see consistency or harmony? Where do you see disagreement or the potential for conflict? In this synthesis paragraph you are being asked to look at several different sources of information: Idziak (Chapters 1); Idziak (Chapter 15); and your own experience – you or your family’s personal experiences in health care – as providers or patients For this RTW paragraphs you will choose one ethical principle from Chapter 1 as a standpoint to discuss culture from Chapter 15 and your own experience. Your evidence can come from print information (textbook), as well as examples or observations from your own experience. For example, you might choose autonomy as the ethical principle to discuss. So one CER would be about autonomy, and the claims, evidence and rationales would all be about various ways autonomy relates to culture. So, you might have two CERs addressing how Chapter 15 addresses culture in relationship to autonomy, and one CER from your own experience. Of course, you need a topic sentence and a concluding sentence that relates your chosen principle to culture and to your experience. ? You will need to spend significant time reflecting about these ideas before you begin writing. You can start by listing all the ethical principles and theories discussed in Chapter 1. Which of these principles relate closely to culture? Which seem more universal? Choose the principle where you have the most relevant experiences/examples/ideas.
